Disc granulators, or pan granulators, are ideal agglomeration solutions for creating uniform pellet products from dry or slightly moist materials. Disc granulators produce high-quality pellet products and are favored by manufacturers of a wide range of products, from soil conditioners to chemical products.
The basic construction of this basic pelletizing equipment is outlined below.
Disc granulators can be broken down into several basic components:
BASE
The base is constructed with structural members and heavy-duty welded plates, providing a sturdy base structure.
Discs
The discs, also called pans, are constructed of heavy-duty carbon steel plates and range in size from 24 inches to 25 feet. The plates are welded and reinforced to strengthen the overall structure.
Plows/Scrapers
The plows and scrapers are independently mounted, blade-like components that control the movement of the material layer as it tumbles over the surface of the disc. The scrapers of larger diameter discs are covered with a ceramic wear-resistant coating/finish to protect the scrapers from damage from abrasive materials.
Plow Supports
The plow support is constructed of heavy-duty welded structural members. It is designed to provide rigidity to the disc support system and allows for quick adjustment of the disc angle without having to adjust the plow blades individually.
Spray System
The spray system sprays liquids and adhesives onto the discs. The system consists of nozzles, needle valves, pressure gauges, pipe connections and spray lines.
Feed and discharge chutes
The feed chute (optional) directs the material onto the discs, while the discharge chute directs the material away from the discs.
