What are the benefits of composting?

Composting is simply the decomposition of organic matter and is a type of organic fertilizer. Composting is the natural recycling of solid organic matter such as leaves, livestock manure, domestic garbage, sludge, and crop straw, turning them into fertile soil conditioners, and adding soil and minerals for mixing and stacking. Under high temperature and high humidity conditions, compost is successfully generated through fermentation, decomposition, and microbial degradation. As an ancient fertilizer, composting occupies an important position in agriculture. We will have a deeper understanding of composting in the next section.

Benefits of composting

For a long time, research on the application of composting has shown that using compost as a mulch, soil, or potting medium is beneficial in many ways.

1. Improve soil structure

Composting is mainly used for soil improvement. High-quality garbage compost is used in agricultural production, which not only increases soil humus and nutrients, but also improves soil quality.

During the composting process, organic matter combines with soil, loosens clay soils, and aggregates sandy soils. Composting helps to aggregate soil particles together, filling the soil with tiny pores and gaps to accommodate air, water and nutrients. Therefore, it significantly improves soil structure and enhances soil aeration, water retention and fertilization functions.

2. Promote plant root growth

Composting is a regeneration process of beneficial microorganisms, producing a large number of beneficial metabolites, which is beneficial to the growth of plant roots, the penetration of plant roots into the soil, and the ability of plants to resist drought.

3. Increase crop yields

Studies have shown that the appropriate application of high-quality compost has a good yield-increasing effect, especially in vegetable fields with low soil fertility, the yield-increasing effect is better, and it can improve the quality of vegetables and reduce the proportion of vegetables with rotten roots. Composting can increase the content of calcium and potassium in vegetables, reduce the content of nitrates and nitrites, and has a more obvious yield-increasing effect on crops such as rice, potatoes, and carrots.

4. Reuse waste

Composting can greatly reduce the total amount of your household waste. By reusing waste, we can minimize the loss of valuable organic materials, return them to the soil, and reduce the burden on landfills.

5. Reduce plant pests and diseases

After high-temperature composting, pathogens are reduced and harmful insect eggs are killed. Compost provides beneficial organisms such as nitrogen-fixing bacteria, providing rich organic matter for the soil. Microorganisms can promote the decomposition of organic matter, thereby forming humus and providing nutrients. The incidence of pests and diseases of many plants can be reduced. In addition, as a mulch, the finished compost can suppress weeds.

Compost Turning Machine

The composting process is improved when the raw materials are initially well mixed. If the materials are occasionally mixed and composted, these stirring and mixing functions largely rely on fertilizer equipment-compost turning machine. Compost turning machine, also known as compost windrow turning machine, is the core equipment of dynamic aerobic composting and is mainly used in organic fertilizer fermentation system. As a new type of machinery, compost turning machine is not well-known in domestic product catalogs, but it has gradually become popular in biological organic fertilizer equipment. It has replaced manual or forklift turning of materials and has become a mainstream product that affects the development trend of the composting industry.

In short, compost turning machine is a trustworthy fertilizer machinery in aerobic fermentation and organic fertilizer production.
